How To: Hang with Google+

Posted by brittany cooper

Google+ has not seen the greatest takeoff since its launch in 2011, as it struggled to compete with well-established social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. The site pulled out all the stops, embellishing the new look with social bells and whistles, such as "Hangouts," in an attempt to gain media attention. Unfortunately, Google went a little overboard, their coup-de-grace being the muddled interface and a confusing layout that was less than use-friendly. However, they have begun to clean up their act, and G+ can now be a great tool in connecting with your clients and for advancing business. Using Google Hangout, an associated plug-in, you can create a virtual video chatroom from which you can conduct business meetings, share information, or just gain valuable face time with your clients. Here are tips on how to get started on Google Hangout and become a G+ master.

Social media killed the blog star?

Posted by kayla ehrie

Did social media take off and break the blogger hearts? Have Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google+, and all the other social networks done to blogging what video did to radio? Remember the lyrics? “Video killed the radio star.” Have blogger voices and careers been cut short by social media buzz? Is the era of blogging about to pass? We don’t think so. In-fact, we think the opposite.

DCA – Diet Coke Anonymous

Posted by kayla ehrie

Ralph and Chris, Whipp partners, first began using Diet Coke when they took the Pepsi challenge in 1994 and Coke won. They desperately wanted to get out, but as the rewards points piled up the cost of quitting outweighed the benefit. They are most recently hoping to win a 60’’ plasma HDTV and a pair of Beats headphones. Coke caps, reward prizes, and bottles have begun to fill their offices, and hoarding has become an issue. As the Whipp partners have begun to realize they have a problem, they decided to start their very own, Diet Coke anonymous club.

1984 Meets 2012

Posted by kayla ehrie

A news story I was reading this morning on NPR posed a question  I think most our followers are interested in; Have we become weather balloons, helping government predict different futures through the web? Ok...I lied, it posed several questions...The next being, how do we observe the world as people, as organizations, and as a general community? Has Facebook and Twitter and other online social media/news feeds taken over? Have we become predictable, traceable, and mathematical creatures? If so, who is watching?  Is it better to have predictive advertising or do we want the web out of our cookie-jar?
